Web series / Preparation for the Mini Transat by chaining the embarkations on other supports

Hugo, The Sailing Frenchman, is preparing the Mini Transat 2021. For this, he is training hard on his Maxi 6.50 from the IDBmarine shipyard. But in parallel, he does not hesitate to change support to increase his nautical experience.

In these 2 video episodes, we find Hugo on different embarkations. First of all on the quays of Marseille. This time, it's not about a monohull, but rather a trimaran. Indeed, the sailor will participate in the delivery of the Multi 50 Solidaire en Peloton between Marseille and Toulon. The opportunity for him to make beautiful images of drone which will be used by the sponsor.

Then, for a charter company in the West Indies, Hugo is also the organizer of a fast cruising course. He will train his trainees on a Pogo 12.50 from La Rochelle. By practicing long navigations towards the Ile d'Yeu and South Brittany, he will be able to practice different maneuvers and adjustments.

After that, the sailor will put his bag on board an IRC 40 sailboat in Cherbourg. He will take the start of the Fastnet, which historically begins in Cowes on the Isle of Whight. The atmosphere within the crew is good even if the sailing conditions are rough. Indeed, the start is given upwind in 30 knots of wind with an opposite current. These conditions were to be the reason for the mainsail track to tear off as they passed the Needles, forcing the crew to return to Cherbourg and abandon the race. A big disappointment for Hugo who was hoping to pass the Fastnet during the race, this mythical lighthouse for sailors.

Finally, Hugo is on the pontoons of the Solitaire du Figaro to attend the start this time as a mediator and not as a racer. Another good experience to put to his credit, probably useful for his future career as an ocean racer..
