Web series / Modification by the IDBmarine shipyard on the Mini 1014

The Sailing Frenchman, Hugo, gets his Mini back at the IDBmarine shipyard. They have just made some modifications on his boat in order to strengthen it for the Mini Transat 2021.

Before starting the first race of his season, Hugo continues the maintenance and training on his Mini 6.50 number 1014. Indeed, a sailboat needs to be followed to be always at the top during the sea trips.

Hugo's Mini is a production sailboat built by the IDBmarine yard. A Maxi 650 designed by David Raison who participated in his first Mini Transat in 2019. Hugo has the number 24 in the series. After the discovery of the first specimens, the shipyard made modifications on the series by bringing in particular reinforcements on the hull. These modifications are carried out on all the models of the series. Hugo had to take his boat to the shipyard to have varangues added in front of the keel and under the cockpit. If these parts will not change the behavior of the boat, on the other hand, the keel sail is replaced by enlarging it of 5 cm on the back, thus increasing the anti-drift plane. This change should favour upwind sailing.

In this episode, Hugo is training with 2 other sailboats choosing to sail long tacks and even sleeping in another port. He takes the opportunity to explain how ballast tanks work on a Mini prototype that can be equipped with them.

The return trip under spinnaker will be the occasion of a few heap starts, always spectacular, but fortunately without any consequence on the skipper and the equipment.
