Hugo tells us about his off-race qualification for the Mini Transat. On his 6.50 m scow, a Maxi 650 from IDBmarine, he will climb to the south of Ireland to round a buoy. This climb will be done under spinnaker at speeds that this type of light, gliding yacht can offer.
Huge luck, when Hugo manages to spot the buoy (despite the fog) the wind turns 100°. A welcome rotation since from a downwind climb, he will also be able to make the descent under spinnaker. Admittedly the sea is not in the direction of the wind and the sailboat slaps a little more, but the speeds still above 12 knots are really pleasant for the sailor.
During this run that seems never to end, Hugo has the audacity to take off his drone to give us splendid images of the sea. We can clearly see how the little sailboat goes surfing without ever watering the cockpit.
