Web series / Nomad Citizen Sailing: heading for Gibraltar before the Canaries

In this new episode of Nomad Citizen Sailing, Marvin and Loury continue to sail their boat to the Canary Islands, with a stopover in Gibraltar that doesn't go exactly as planned.

Marvin and Loury left Cabo de Gata under motor because the wind decided not to show up. The arrival in Gibraltar is expected in about 30 hours and the two men spend their time on board Nomad Citizen Sailing fishing two bonito euros! euros, taking naps and alternating watches, which they also share from time to time. The night sailing is done accompanied by dolphins.

Their arrival in Gibraltar was punctuated by the foghorn blasts of the freighters, completely masked by the fog. There was no visibility, and the two men relied on the sound signals and the radar to find their way. Nevertheless, they managed to reach Marina Alcaidesa, the "gateway to the Mediterranean" located in Spain, in the strait.

Marvin has to pick up their satellite phone which the marina refused to receive a few days earlier, as their boat had not yet arrived in port. The phone will never arrive.

After taking care of the boat, the two friends set sail again to continue towards the Canaries, but were soon forced to turn back. All their screens failed, as well as the automatic pilot. After having detected the breakdown - a fuse had failed - and having made the repairs, they were finally ready to leave. Sailing with the wind thanks to the hydrovane windvane steering system.

On the 2nd day of the crossing to the Canaries, the wind has fallen since 5 am. But the night was good and we were able to sail. Marvin was apprehensive about sailing in the Mediterranean, subject to constant wind changes, but the night was a real pleasure. We now have to wait for the wind to come back in the middle of the afternoon, alone in this blue immensity.
