Web series / Nomad Citizen Sailing heads for the Balearic Islands

Nomad Citizen Sailing is leaving Spain for the Balearic Islands, a destination they were unable to visit last year due to the Covid.

After a stop in Puerto del Este - a stop that Marvin does not recommend for a sailboat, as the anchorage in front of the beach, like the harbor, is rather rough - the family weighed anchor to reach Cabo de Gata. At anchor in the Spanish natural park, they waited for the wind to gain strength and took the opportunity to stretch their legs before a long 36-hour sail to Formentera, in the Balearic Islands. Sailing at night is also easier for Tara, for whom time seems to be shorter.

After a good day playing on the sand, it was time to weigh anchor, with a departure under mainsail with 10-15 knots of wind. While Marvin manages the navigation, Daniela takes care of Tara, who takes advantage of the saloon transformed into a bed, more comfortable for the navigations.

Marvin took the opportunity to test their Hydrovanne windvane gear, the same model used by VDH during the Golden Globe Race on his Matmut boat, and marketed by Croix du Sud Marine. It allows to reduce the electrical consumption. With two nights of sailing, the couple wants to save the autopilot and has only its solar panels to recharge its batteries.

This first part of the journey is going perfectly, with 18 knots of wind and a boat that is making 7.3 knots.
