Web series / Nomad Citizen Sailing: Avoid Formentera (Balearic Islands) in May!

After a very windy week in Formentera, in the Balearic Islands, Nomad Citizen Sailing decided to shorten its stopover and set sail for Mallorca (Majorca).

After Spain, Daniela, Marvin and Tara are going to the Balearic Islands, starting with Formentera. But the stay will be shortened because of the strong winds that blow on the Spanish coast in May. Arriving with beautiful weather and a turquoise blue sea, the family had to manage changes of anchorage - up to 2 times a day - to try to shelter from the 35 knot gusts, as the wind season stops from June 15.

It was therefore difficult to enjoy and rest, especially for Daniela, who was prone to seasickness, with a boat that spent its time moving around. It was also difficult to reach the land to enjoy the city, as the dinghy was moving too much in the waves.

Although they had planned to stay for two weeks, the couple preferred to set sail for Mallorca. Under code D, with 10 knots of wind, Nomad Citizen Sailing reached its new Spanish stopover after 12 hours of sailing.
