Web series / Nomad Citizen Sailing: Balearic Islands in summer, overcrowded anchorages!

With summer, the Balearic Islands have taken on the air of a yachting theme park. The anchorages - as beautiful as they are - are taken by storm - and the influx of people has to be managed. Nomad Citizen Sailing therefore continued northwards, hoping to reach Menorca and find peace and quiet.

After several weeks of rest in Santa Ponsa, Nomad Citizen Sailing is raising the anchor to reach Porta Vells, on the south coast, before continuing their route to Menorca, where they are expected in two weeks. A smooth sailing, but unfortunately with the engine, because of the lack of wind.

When they arrived, the anchorage was overcrowded. The night had been short, and the too many boaters in stopover quickly made them want to continue their journey. Although they have been in the Balearic Islands for several months, the summer season has caused the number of boats in the area to skyrocket. This means juggling motorboats, jet skis, charter boats and a host of other vessels, all of which want to enjoy the beauty of the Spanish islands.

Even if the spot is magnificent, Daniela, Marvin and their little daughter Tara prefer to go back to sea, disappointed by this overpopulation. After a start with 9 knots of wind, to manage the waves of the big yachts which sail beside them, it is with 3 knots, the mainsail and the genoa that they continue their way.

While they had initially planned to reach the south of the island, the weather decided otherwise. A strong gale is forecasted and most of the anchorages are not protected. So Nomad Citizen is sailing north to reach their next destination, Menorca, which they hope will be calmer and less crowded.
