The Cabrera archipelago, wild islands south of Majorca which became a National Park in 1991, awaits you! Don't worry, it is a navigation that does not exceed two hours when leaving Salines Point. But before you point the bow, make sure you can get there; the problem is the regulation of the archipelago, managed directly by the Park.
Three authorizations can be issued: one to sail in the archipelago, one to anchor there at night (on dead body) and finally one to dive. Most rental yachts have the first, established year-round. This simplifies the task and allows you to moor at a day anchorage, within the limit of available places. Basically, if you have a permit to sail and you arrive around 10 or 11am, you can discover the archipelago by day..
Be careful, to spend the night there, it's more complicated. First of all because the offices are closed on weekends. Then because the place is very popular; it is therefore advisable to anticipate the discovery of Cabrera. Summer, three weeks in advance is a reasonable time. It is nevertheless possible to book your body death by internet - and therefore know the availability. Because the places are expensive: only about fifty buoys are available for the night.
What will you discover in Cabrera?
An archipelago of islands and calcareous islets of 100 km2 - only 13 of which are on land, an endemic nature and incredibly unspoilt seabed. The history of Cabrera is however less rejoicing - on the human level - since the main island was a vast internment camp of the French soldiers during the Napoleonic wars. The unfortunate lived there in atrocious conditions - no shelter and no water. Only the access to the castle - which offers a magnificent panorama - is free. The other walks in the island are authorized accompanied by a guide.
The island has two regulated anchorage areas. The main anchorage, well sheltered except from the very strong north wind, forms a vast bay surrounded by dry hills and golden rocks. To the east, Cala Es Borri has a few dead bodies for the day. It is forbidden to anchor in the whole archipelago, but it is still possible to ring the boat as an annex.
