End of the stage for Hugo and his crew. This sailor, who has already made his mark on his yacht Écume de Mer, today joined a crew of the clipper Round the World Race 2019. This is a crewed round the world race where the crew members pay for their place on board.
We had left Hugo after he crossed the equator as he went down the Brazilian coast towards Punta Del Este. With just a few hundred miles to go before they cross the line, the crew are encountering a wide variety of weather conditions, going from flat calm to stormy in just a few minutes. The last 3 days have been tough, but the dearly defended 3rd place is a great reward.
Always at the heart of the action, Hugo tells us through his videos about life aboard these one-design yachts. The crew is numerous, the crew members are often neophytes and manoeuvring on these big sailing ships is not always easy. It is therefore necessary to take care of the grain and avoid mistakes as much as possible. Mile after mile, the crew seems to be getting better and better at it and the score at the finish proves the commitment of their apprentice sailors.
