Life isn't always rosy in the South Seas. Hugo, The Sailing Frenchman is second on one of the one-design boats racing around the world with a crew: The clipper World the World Race 2020. In the leg from Cape Town (South Africa) to Australia, the crew is battling at the front of the pack. Indeed, shortly after the start, they managed to take the lead.
Far from the idea of a long downwind glide, the weather has a few surprises in store with sustained but not crazy winds, a deep but not heavy sea, but above all a very long beam wind with waves which are copiously spraying the yacht.
But this wind is not going to accompany the crew all the way to the end, as it's going to fall into a mole which will bring a bit of sunshine, but also a lot of rain! The calm weather is not going to succeed for the crew, who are visibly better in the strong wind. Indeed, the crew will be blown into first place a few hours before crossing the finish line.
A relaxing moment when the crew celebrates the Captain's birthday. On this occasion, Hugo finds himself alone at the helm, all the crew members being exceptionally gathered in the cabin. A moment of pleasure for our young sailor who found himself alone on the deck of this big sailboat. He had just spent 2 years alone on his Écume de Mer before taking part in this race.
