In the Clipper Round The World 2019 race, Hugo, who calls himself The Sailing Frenchman, is taking us into the event from the inside.
This crewed round-the-world race with stopovers is a bit special. If the yachts are one-designs, the crews are "passengers" paying for their place on board. They are mostly neophytes who are looking for an experience of the open sea and regattas.
Only 2 people are professionals on board these yachts: the skipper and the chief mate. Hugo's just coming in second.
With these videos, he gets us involved in life on board, manoeuvres and even tactics. Walking his camera from the chart table to the galley, through the sail locker and onto the deck.
In this video, the crew crosses the equator and heads for Brazil. He will then encounter any type of weather from windless to cool.
