Web series / Under spinnaker with a competitor of the Clipper Round the World

Hugo, second on a Clipper Round the World sailboat, plunges us into the heart of a crew that is taking part in this round the world race with a stopover. After a long series of upwind tack changes, the sailboat can finally drop and enjoy beautiful downwind slides under spinnaker.

Fantastic images from the Atlantic. Hugo, The Sailing Frenchman as he calls himself on his Youtube channel, shares images of the first stage of the Clipper Round the World. After a difficult start with upwind to get out of the round, the boat rounded off the Finisterre and passed downwind along France, Spain and Portugal.

During this long downwind descent, the sailboat reaches speeds in excess of 20 knots. This is an opportunity for the novice crew to discover maneuvers on the high seas on a large sailboat. Not easy for the 2 professionals on board, of whom Hugo is the second, to manage a crew of 20 crew members to whom it is necessary to explain the manoeuvres and ensure their safety.

On this first stage the crew took its marks, leaving far behind the ranking, but trying to sail cleanly. The images, especially those taken with a drone or surfing for long seconds, are breathtaking, allowing spectators to see how a race from the inside is experienced.
