Test / Nuva M11 Open: a program for stylish families

In this first part of our test, we take a look at the concept and program of the Nuva M11 Open. With a strong Mediterranean character and very modern lines, this Spanish dayboat has a strong personality to appeal to families.

A weekender with character

Since 2016, Andrés Cardenas, ex-director of Bavaria, among others, and current head of the Nuva shipyard ,has been building boats at Port Ginesta near Barcelona that have rapidly gained prominence on Spanish and international waters.

Andrés is no stranger to innovation and transgressive design. We remember the M6S, a fifty and the success of the M6, M8 and M9 Open and Cab versions.

Tià Simo and Raúl Gonzalo, from the Mallorcan studio Bravo Yacht Design, were responsible for designing this time a weekender with character, with performance, access to the sea and personalization as the guiding principles.

Of course, and this is the hallmark of a boat with a very Mediterranean DNA, it's important to have a boat with character that's close to the personality of each owner, to be able to enjoy sun and shade, not forgetting on-board catering. And for this, the M11 offers a central console with walk-around circulation, a solid hard-top, two folding side bulwarks, two large solariums and a vast interior space.

From the water, it also remains very attractive

A dayboat with very modern lines, speed and excellent features

Spending long days sailing or at anchor, having the possibility of eating efficiently, and being able to continue with one or two nights on board without stepping on each other's toes were imperatives. But seaworthiness was not forgotten either.

Just because the boat exudes that distinctive Balearic ambience of coves, turquoise waters and lounge music, doesn't mean it doesn't boast a characterful hull and engine.

Beneath the varnish lie attributes capable of putting in the miles, and passing through rough seas without turning navigation into an ordeal. The Mediterranean can be as attractive as it is combative, so you need to have peace of mind before setting sail.

The Mediterranean spirit

The M11, at 11.35 m long, offers 2x300 or 2x350 horsepower to carry its 12-person maximum load.

David Almeida, Nuva's general manager, explains the M11's core target: "The new Nuva M11 is aimed at young families or large families who have already had their first experience of boating. People who want to reduce or increase the length of their boat. The initial concept was simple: we wanted to make a dayboat with very modern lines, fast and with excellent features, not forgetting great comfort on board". An opinion shared by one of the two naval architects, Tià Simó: "Its appeal lies in the simplicity and harmony of its lines, which give it a sporty, elegant look. The combination of these elements gives it a timeless aesthetic, so that it remains attractive with the passage of time."
