As on previous models in the SE range, all halyards and sheets are brought back to the helm station. This means you can control the boat without leaving the helm, even when fine-tuning. Ergonomics have been well thought out to ensure easy handling, even in strong winds. This technical choice is clearly aimed at solo or duo sailors, without sacrificing control.
28-foot habitability: weekend or siesta on board?
The Leopard boasts 4 real berths and a small galley. The interior is bright and modern. With a hull length of 8.40 m (9.20 m with bowsprit), space on board remains limited, but seems usable for extended weekends. It's still a dayboat, but it's versatile, with plenty of living space.
Performance claims: what the inverted bow changes
The Leopard's hull is completely new, with an inverted bow. This design is aimed at improving glide, reducing sinkage and increasing speed, particularly upwind. The manufacturer emphasizes a more responsive and lively behavior. The possibility of sailing in regatta configuration (with genoa and gennaker) confirms the model's sporting orientation.
Motorization: electric or diesel, at equal cost
The Leopard comes with an electric motor as standard. A diesel engine is available at no extra cost. This approach allows everyone to choose according to their sailing schedule. The electric option is particularly interesting for coastal cruising or inland waters. What remains to be seen is the actual range and battery recharging capacity.
Customization: is it still a production sailboat?
Tiller or double wheel, hull colors, choice of fabrics, keel depth or even integration of solar panels: the level of customization on offer is astonishing for a production sailboat. The result is a yacht that can be used for a wide variety of purposes, from dry docking to sporty sailing or cruising as a duo.
