The Northman 1050 is aimed at yachtsmen looking for a motorboat that lets them live aboard and sail comfortably, without going too fast. Compact in size, it nevertheless offers real habitability. Its major asset: a clever balance between interior volume, autonomy and ease of maneuvering.
A semi-displacement hull designed for efficiency
The design of the Northman 1050 is based on a semi-planing hull, the fruit of collaboration between the Polish shipyard Northman and D&S Yacht Design. This type of hull enables economical speeds of around 8 knots, with fuel consumption of less than 10 liters per hour. A good point for long cruises.

But for boaters in a hurry, a more muscular version is offered with a 370 hp Yanmar V8. The shipyard then modified the hull mold to adapt the rear volumes. A technical approach rarely adopted in this range. Result: the boat can exceed 23 knots at top speed. But this is clearly not her primary vocation.
Less than 10 metres, but two real cabins and a real bathroom
At 9.84 meters long and 3.40 meters wide, the Northman 1050 remains in the sub-10-meter category, which has concrete consequences on berth prices. Inside, however, the layout accommodates two double cabins, a bathroom with separate shower, a convertible saloon and a full-length galley. The whole is bright, thanks in particular to the large portholes which break the feeling of confinement.

The headroom is just under 2 meters, which is rare enough for this size to merit a mention. And every nook and cranny is used for storage. The shipyard's experience in building Maxus yachts is evident here.
A modular cockpit designed for life on board
On the cockpit side, the aft bench seat slides on rails and offers three different configurations, depending on sailing or use at anchor. In addition, the starboard side planking can be tilted to transform into a bathing platform. The overall layout is asymmetrical, with a deep starboard gangway and direct access to the wheelhouse.

Access to the fly is from the bow, freeing up the stern of the boat for safe movement. The fly features a sunbathing area and an optional helm station. The stern can be fitted with solar panels, an asset for energy autonomy.
Well-adapted powertrains and good range
The Northman 1050 offers three Yanmar V-Drive in-line engines: 110, 250 and 370 hp. The shipyard adapts the hull shape to match the power output, ensuring that the boat stays flat in all circumstances.

In the 370 hp version, the boat remains stable even in heavy seas. During our test run in the Pertuis, with 20 knots of wind, course keeping was impeccable at all speeds. With 500 liters of diesel, range exceeds 400 miles at economical speed. Enough for leisurely coastal cruising or more ambitious coastal crossings.
A trawler for those looking to sail far, not fast
The Northman 1050 is designed for those who want to live aboard for several days or even weeks at a time. Its layout, spaciousness, autonomy and tolerant hull make it a good cruising companion for a couple, with or without guests.

This is not a boat for day trips or fast sailing. It's best suited to slow, comfortable, sober cruising. This is where it shows its full potential.
