Web series / Under The Pole III : 1 month of work for the Why

Before the Pacific crossing (which started on April 5, 2018), the crew of Under The Pole worked for a month on the Why to prepare it for this long crossing in the southern hemisphere (a first for the crew!). Find the preparations of this 2nd part of expedition in a new video.

The crew of Under The Pole arrived in Alaska on March 5, 2018 to begin work on the Why before crossing the Pacific, which was scheduled to depart on April 5. On this month's program: definition of priorities and choice of priorities among the priorities, preparation and maintenance of the sailboat to sail in the Pacific and reach Hawaii for the 2nd part of the expedition

While some take advantage of a day at sea - Emmanuelle and the children in particular - to admire the whales and seals (on the boat of one of their friend since the Why is made"beautiful"), on the schooner, one is activated: engine, injectors, full of fuel... With a 2,000 L tank (3 tanks of 500 L, 500 L and 1000 L), the Why can sail independently (engine, heating) for 10 days, 24 hours a day at a speed of 6 knots.

This new expedition in French Polynesia will be the first navigation of the Why in the southern hemisphere, after having spent 10 years in the Arctic

Enjoy also a bonus interview with Frances and Erik, friends of Emmanuelle and Ghislain, who hosted them during this month of work in Sitka. They will give you their opinion on the crew of Under The Pole: sailors who drink beer, eat late, do not speak English and squat their jacuzzi! Funny!
