Hurricane-force storm Joachim arrived in Finistère at around 2am. It then crossed Brittany towards the English Channel, before continuing on towards Germany. Météo France had placed the five Breton departments under a red wind alert, due to the risk of dangerous phenomena of exceptional intensity. The authorities called on the population to exercise the utmost caution and to follow safety instructions.
