Web series / Under The Pole III: Introduction to deep diving in Polynesia

The Under The Pole team is trained in rebreather diving in the clear waters of Polynesia, including deep diving.

This new episode of Under The Pole III features the team in Tahiti as they prepare for their new expedition. After the extreme cold, it is time for the warm climate of French Polynesia and the 12-month research program Deep Hope ", a study of the deep coral reefs of the five archipelagos of French Polynesia.

Top start of the program

But before leaving, you have to prepare the Why, get rid of its polar gear and stock up on food and equipment for the next 15 months. A hard work of two days which will be rewarded by a splendid hike on the heights of Moorea.

Meetings with the team

The preparation of the Why is also an opportunity to meet the whole team that will work on the project - the Centre de Recherches Insulaires et Observatoire de l'Environnement (CRIOBE) - the workshop, etc.

It is also time for the rest of the team to join the schooner for this new expedition. While there were only 6 of them on board, there will now be 15 of them, with both enfants?! A change of atmosphere is guaranteed.

3 weeks of deep diving training

For 3 weeks, new divers will be trained and experienced divers will benefit from a refresher course on the rebreather. It will also be an opportunity for two of them to do programming for more extreme dives.

In total, there will be 3 different training courses, depending on the level of each one, with the learning of safety procedures, which is essential in diving.

And by way of training, dives in the 120 m zone, including the deepest dive of the expedition at 150 m?!

And always a bonus?!

On the Why, while the older ones dive, the younger ones clean the plages?! A long term work that brings joy to the two little guys at expédition?!
