Web series / Under The Pole III: Back to school and discovery of a new species of coral

In this 8th episode of Under The Pole III, the crew of the Why explains the protocol for taking corals from the mesophobic Polynesian coral reef.

Taking corals to study how they adapt to climate change requires not only following a protocol, but also having knowledge about these limestone skeleton "animals". For this reason, for 15 days, members of the Under The Pole expedition and scientists gathered in Moorea for a workshop on deep corals. Back to school therefore for the crew of the Why.

But after school, it's time for pratique?! And after Moorea, it's Bora-Bora's turn to be explored by Under The Pole divers. Six levels are explored: 120 m/90 m/60 m/60 m/40 m/20 m/20 m/6 m and the team performs the same protocol each time: sampling and photography. An intense work of about 1 week. And which would have made it possible to discover perhaps a new species of corail?!

For Ghislain, it is one of the most beautiful places he has exploré?! Without any pollution and with such clear water, that the landscapes look like lunaires?!
