Identify species
After the training, it is time for the Under the Pole team to start studying corals. The CRIOBE (Centre de Recherches Insulaires et Observatoire de l'Environnement) has prepared waterproof sheets with photos of the main corals to be found. The idea is to study how deep they are, collect samples and find new species.
Take samples
From the surface, divers are guided by a CRIOBE researcher who tells them what samples to take.
And from the first dive, the results are more than conclusive since two new species have been discovered on this site?!
On the ground too
And between two dives, the crew enjoys the jewels of the land with a beautiful hike on the peaks of Mount Rotui, head in the nuages?!
