Test / Bayliner V20, aggressive pricing for competitive positioning

Bayliner has succeeded in lowering the price of its new bowrider. A fine result for this C-category boat, which can carry 10 people.

When we go to the bank, we discover that the Bayliner V20 is aggressively priced. The shipyard explains that it has succeeded in lowering the price of the V20 compared to the VR5 by concentrating its purchases worldwide. Consumers won't complain.

The V20i (inboard) with 200 hp Mercruiser is priced at ?54,620 inc. VAT, and ?55,820 with 250 hp Mercrusier. In the outboard version, the bare hull is priced at ?28,650 incl. VAT. With a 150 hp outboard, the boat is priced at ?45,060 incl. VAT. The maximum 225 hp engine costs ?55,269 incl. VAT.

The bowrider market is somewhat deserted by the competition. The Bénéteau Group, for example, no longer offers them in its catalog.

To find an equivalent to the Bayliner V20, look no further than Yamarin, which offers the 59 BR (5.95 m) with 115 hp Yamaha at ?49,000 incl. VAT. Or the Quicksilver Activ 605 Bowrider (6.02 m) for ?47,000 incl. VAT. Last but not least, the Sea Ray SPX 190 (5.97 m) with Mercruiser 200 hp costs ?70,700. Smaller and more expensive...
