Web series / La Vivacia takes shape, cuts and sets up couples

The Vivacia is a future sail/oar canoe that Lucas built on plans by François Vivier. In this episode, he shows us how to transfer the ribs of the planes to cut the couples and how to adjust the bow.

In this episode, Lucas, our apprentice shipbuilder, puts Beg Meil's plans on the plywood that will form the couples. Drawings, cuts, adjustments are on the program to discover the shape of the canoe once on site.

Plan by François Vivier, the Beg Meil combines traditional wood for the planking with plywood for the structure. At the beginning of this construction, Lucas decided to do everything himself, using the architect's data to transfer the dimensions to the plywood. Less"purist" builders will be able to buy the kit ready to assemble proposed by the architect.

Very didactic, Lucas explains step by step its realization with this time a focus on the bow which must be adjusted to receive the future planks. An interesting explanation that shows how with only hand tools, it is possible to do very clean work.
