Forward cabin of the Bavaria E40

The Bavaria E40 was one of the new boats from the German shipyard Bavaria Yachts, to be discovered in its Fly version in Cannes and in its Sedan version (river boat) in La Rochelle. The two models are exactly the same, only their roof changes. This cleverly designed launch has a particularly innovative interior layout and a more river-based navigation programme.

A typical river boat

The Bavaria E40 is a 12.29 m long star that has the typical layout of northern or river cruise boats. That is, the cockpit is installed aft, in the centre of the boat and in a raised position. This provides a peripheral view through the panoramic windows over the entire bridge. The steering station is equipped with a large bench seat glued to the rear wall of the boat, which can accommodate 3 people, a pilot and two co-pilots.

The large 13 m2 lounge also features a fully equipped galley on the port side with microwave, refrigerator, gas or induction cooker, oven and plenty of storage space. To starboard are the saloon with an L-shaped bench seat and a large dining table. The space is transformed into an additional sleeping area.

The view is completely unobstructed at 360° with the many windows and this makes the boat ultra bright. On the roof, in the sedan version, four dormers (two of which open electrically) allow the boat to be ventilated and skylights to be created, in addition to two smaller dormers. Similarly, in the kitchen, the glass opens for better ventilation.

Owner or charter version

There are two descents - one at the front and one at the back to access the cabins. At the front, there is a large double cabin (scissor bed) with a real bathroom with shower.

At the rear, there is a choice between a large 15 m2 double owner's cabin with bathroom or two double cabins. Once again, the boat has been designed with intelligence and there are many storage spaces. The cabins are bright thanks to the 4 large hull portholes and the 7 smaller ones. In the charter version, there are three cabins - two at the rear and one at the front.

An open cockpit

In the 8m2 cockpit, protected from the wind and sun, there is a large bench with table, as well as numerous storage spaces under the seats. The latter is designed in an innovative way since it has a glazed door and a glazing that opens almost entirely to create a large open space with the interior. Access to the sea is easy thanks to the rear bathing platform equipped with a ladder, which unfolds and folds up (gas spring as on sailboats). The foredeck houses a large sunbathing area.

Sedan or flybridge version

In the Fly version, a plexiglass windscreen protects the cockpit, equipped with pilot and co-pilot seats. To starboard, there is the comfort area with a large sofa/square and a sunbathing area at the stern with a convertible backrest. The 12m2 flybridge is protected from the sun by a large bimini that folds backwards.

A family boat and intelligently designed

The Bavaria E40 is a real surprise! The boat is really well thought out and designed with an unconventional layout and a nice balance between private spaces, living areas and storage spaces. Its family vocation is reflected in the development. First of all, the layout of the cockpit allows you to navigate while enjoying your guests or family. Backward, it allows you to have seen on the living room, as well as on the horizon.

But also thanks to the many storage spaces, the large saloon space, or the many functionalities to make everyday life easier, such as the many cup holders arranged throughout the boat or the many storage trays. Similarly, under the downstairs, there is a space for an extra fridge or washing machine

The family program is also reflected in the safety level as handrails are found everywhere on the boat, whether in the fly or sedan version. The front deck is also protected with dies, while the cockpit can be secured with doors

Hybrid propulsion for three cruise modes

The Bavaria E40 - with its semi-displacement hull that reduces drag - is equipped with hybrid propulsion (electric and diesel propulsion). Thus, you can choose between three cruise modes:

Motor mode Diesel engine allows the boat to move forward and the electric thruster is used as a generator, recharging the batteries.

Electric mode Diesel engine is stopped and the boat only moves forward thanks to electric propulsion (zero emission)

Booster mode Diesel engine and electric propulsion move the boat forward together.

Estimated range in silent electric mode: 1 h 30 at 5 knots or 1 h 00 at 6 knots (max speed).

Here are the recommended propulsions:

  • 75 HP for the river
  • 150 CV for the coastal
  • 300 HP for the sea

In this latest version, the cruise speed is 10 knots and the top speed is 13 knots.
