Announced for spring 2026, ePropulsion's Spirit 2 is a portable 2 kW electric outboard motor. It is aimed at owners of small boats, tenders, day-boats and coastal cruisers.
A lightweight electric motor, but not without compromises
The engine block weighs 10.2 kilos, to which must be added 10.4 kilos for the 1539 Wh lithium battery. This weight remains acceptable for on-board handling, but still represents a package weighing over 20 kilos.
Rated at 2 kW, with a 3 kW boost mode, it can reach speeds of up to 9.5 knots on a small planing hull (manufacturer's data to be verified...). This motor is therefore ideal for use in sheltered waters or as a tender propulsion system.
Autonomy: performance to be modulated according to conditions

On a full charge, the advertised autonomy reaches 54 minutes at full power, 1h48 at half power, and 3 hours at quarter power. Actual range will depend heavily on current, wind and hull profile.
The Spirit 2 remains compatible with solar recharging and the brand's 48V batteries. The regeneration system for sailboats can produce up to 380 watts (when sailing between 3 and 16 knots).
Ergonomics and transport: well-thought-out layouts

The motor features a color display, folding bar and carrying handle. The transom mount is also detachable. Details that facilitate installation, storage and transport, especially for visiting yachtsmen or yacht clubs.
The battery is attached using a quick-connect system, with no visible wires or connectors, thus minimizing handling errors.
Security and control: interesting new options
The Spirit 2 features a kill-switch, directional lock and 90-degree tilt, useful for beach arrivals.
The motor includes a 45W USB-C port for charging a smartphone or tablet, and an accessory turns the battery into a portable power station.
A range in line with the rest of the ePropulsion offering
Compatible with the 48V ePropulsion platform, the Spirit 2 integrates with an extended range of accessories, including E-Series batteries, solar recharging and remote control systems. The motor is expected to reach retailers in spring 2026. Its positioning remains close to that of the Spirit 1.0 Evo, but with increased power, improved ergonomics and more intuitive charging.
For which uses
The Spirit 2 is aimed at users of dinghies, small motorboats and sailboats under 8 meters. It may also be of interest to rental companies, yacht clubs and yachtsmen looking for an easy-to-deploy electric motor.
But we'll have to keep an eye on the final price, which has yet to be revealed, and on maintenance options, especially for long-distance cruisers.
