Test / Genesis and program of the Maio 1400: the ambition of a Corsican shipyard

Fanale Marine, a young Corsican shipyard, enters the big league with the Maio 1400, a 14-meter RIB that combines Mediterranean performance with ocean-going comfort. Here's a look back at the birth of a project that puts Corsica on the maxi-pneumatic map.

The Corsican roots of a construction site on the rise

Born in Corsica, Fanale Marine first established itself with intermediate-sized RIBs for insular coastal sailing. The company quickly realized that the market was moving upmarket, driven by growing demand for boats over 12 meters. Inspired by the Italian giants who dominate this segment, the brand decided to go one step further with the Maio 1400.

A program designed for cruising and versatility

The specifications were based on two pillars: a boat capable of seducing day-trippers, and a unit allowing family cruising. To achieve this, Fanale Marine chose a deck layout with a large protective T-top and a modular deck layout. The result is a Category B-approved boat, suitable for offshore cruising, comfortably accommodating up to 18 people.

Features designed for the open sea

With a length of 13.30 m, a beam of 3.76 m and a load capacity of 8 tonnes, the Maio 1400 is positioned in the category of ocean-going maxi-trucks. The Maio 1400 program stands out for its true versatility, rarely achieved on a RIB of this size. Conceived primarily as a day-boat capable of carrying up to 18 passengers for day trips, it also adapts to the demands of long-distance cruising.

Its inboard diesel engines, coupled with a vast 1,000-liter fuel tank, give it considerable autonomy, paving the way for ocean cruising in complete serenity. This dual vocation, between coastal conviviality and extended voyages, reflects the Corsican shipyard's ambition: to offer a semi-rigid that is just as comfortable in the bay of Ajaccio as on a crossing to the Balearics.

Betting on design and innovation

The shipyard has opted for a sporty, elegant aesthetic, inspired by Italian production, but with an assertive Corsican identity. Hypalon floats enhance durability, while the integration of modern solutions âeuros stainless steel windlass, kitchenette, equipped cabin âeuros reflects the ambition to stand out in a saturated market.
