A strong island identity
Fanale Marine has always stood out for its strong roots in the region. Each model bears the name of a bird from the Isle of Beauty, a symbolic choice that reflects the company's desire to design boats in harmony with their environment. The Filanciu, named after the kingfisher, joins the Pichju 620 and Falchettu 700 in the range, illustrating the shipyard's strategy of offering affordable RIBs on a human scale, yet capable of holding their own in the conditions frequently encountered in the Mediterranean.
The role of the Honda Marine partnership

The presentation of the Filanciu 650 comes at a very special time for the Corsican shipyard. In 2024, Fanale Marine forged a close partnership with Honda Marine, giving priority to the Japanese brand's engines on its models. This alliance strengthens the technical credibility of the range and facilitates distribution, as Honda has a well-established network in Europe. On the Filanciu 650, the BF150 block was chosen for testing. This may seem an ambitious choice for a unit of this size, but it is in line with the shipyard's desire to offer dynamic, responsive RIBs.
A program designed for more than just cabotage
The Filanciu is not designed as a simple semi-rigid boat for lazing around in summer anchorages. Its deck lines and cockpit design reveal a more ambitious program, designed for sailing in choppy seas and tackling offshore trips. The Bouches de Bonifacio, renowned for their sometimes choppy seas and strong winds, are a natural terrain for this type of unit. The cockpit is recessed into a deep polyester countermould, a choice that effectively protects passengers during fast sailing and enhances safety during hard changes of course.
The hull: tradition and efficiency

The Filanciu 650's hull, with its fine water inlets, two strakes and pronounced chine, is a classic but tried-and-tested design. Fanale Marine's approach is pragmatic: to offer reassuring seakeeping and healthy behavior without going overboard. The combination of polyester and Hypalon remains a sure bet for combining rigidity, comfort and longevity. The balance between sturdiness and low weight is in keeping with the logic of a multi-purpose RIB, capable of being used as much for family cruising as for more sporty sailing.
A deliberate move upmarket
The shipyard's ambition is clear: to raise its entry-level range to a higher standard in terms of finish and equipment. The Hypalon fabric on the floats, with a pattern reminiscent of carbon fiber, the plush caramel-colored upholstery and the meticulous design details bear witness to this ambition. The Filanciu 650's appeal lies as much in its design as in its perceived quality, without sacrificing accessibility. Fanale Marine has positioned this model as a compromise between the ease of use expected of a 6.50 m and the refinement of a more upmarket unit.
The Filanciu 650 was born of a dual dynamic: the assertion of an island identity and the strengthening of an industrial partnership. Designed to be more than just a coastal cruiser, the Filanciu is a semi-rigid with character, designed to take on the sea and appeal to a clientele that demands style and quality. This first glimpse highlights a coherent project, rooted in the shipyard's tradition, yet with an eye to the future.
