Test / Zar 130 Imagine, a luxurious concept of Mediterranean maxi-rib

Faced with the new trend of open dayboats and an expanding maxi-rib market, the Milanese shipyard Zar has decided to launch its 13-length maxi, the Zar Imagine 130. Elegant and sporty, it's aimed at lovers of large, beautiful boats who want to enjoy a cruise that's both entertaining and comfortable. First part of our test.

Meeting the growing demand for maxi-ribs

Zar has become known for its characteristic design, its RIBs have a raised bow made entirely of polyester. This installation allows to gain in habitability and deflects the sprays.

Based in Milan, the yard produces RIBs ranging in size from 4.50 m to 9.60 m. In response to the growing trend for large open dayboats and the development of the maxi-rib market, Zar has developed the 130 Imagine. At 13 meters long and 4.57 meters wide, the Italian shipyard's largest model is constructed of fiberglass, using the infusion technique, for a total weight of approximately 10 tons.

A distinctive and powerful design

Its hull, equipped with 3 steps and tunnels, a Zar patent for a smooth and stable ride, has a V-shaped bow. It is the work of Francesco Ambrosini. The design is by Carlos Vidal, who has already designed several models of the Italian brand. He wanted to bring a touch borrowed from sports cars. We find on this model the characteristics of the brand, namely the large prow without floats, floats in half-moon and a lengthened waterline. This model is equipped with an imposing hard-top to meet customer demand.

A dayboating program with a cruise layout

Fully equipped for Mediterranean cruising, the Zar Imagine 130 allows you to spend several days on board, with all the comforts, with family or friends. However, like most of these large open yachts, its primary purpose is to sail for the day or even the weekend. It can also be used as a luxury tender for larger units. It can accommodate up to 18 people in category C and up to 12 in category B.

With a price tag approaching one million euros, this mega-rider is aimed at a wealthy clientele who can afford a premium unit to take to the water. Zar isn't forgetting about performance and speed-seeking owners either, as two powerful 600-horsepower Mercurys hang from its transom.
