Test / 470 Regina: Concept and program of an open boat

The recent FIM shipyard launched the largest model in its lineup in 2022. The 470 Regina is an open cruiser with a walkaround deck plan. In this first part of our test, we review the program of this boat that wants to stand out from the competition by offering large interior and exterior living spaces and a high level of equipment.

20 years of experience in boat building

FIM for Fabbrica Italiana Motoscafi was founded in 2019 in Bergamo, Italy. Its founder, Corrado Piccinelli, has 20 years of experience in the field of refurbishment and production of new boats. Specialist in the construction of composite parts, he works for several shipyards. He is the subcontractor of BlueGame for the BGX60 and is joined by Manuela Barcella to found the FIM shipyard and launch their own brand of boats. Paolo Ferragni completes the team as a designer.

Create a boat to live aboard

After the launch of the 340 Regina in 2021, of which 16 models have already been sold, the shipyard presents in 2022, the 470 Regina, a 15.10 m walkaround cruiser. Even before the presentation of the boat, 3 models had already found their owner.

Corrado Piccinelli, commercial director of the yard, explains: "We thought about how to differentiate ourselves by creating a boat to live aboard, in a dynamic, fun and exclusive way. That is, we wanted to create a boat to live aboard and not just to spend the night. That's why there are two suites on board the 470 Regina."

Sailing on a family cruise

This model, built in fiberglass in Italy, is intended for cruising with family or friends, but above all for a festive and dynamic life on board. It is aimed at a sporty clientele, but not necessarily a young one, as the sales manager explains. Its many living spaces, at the bow and stern, and its two beautiful cabins, are proof of the orientation desired by the shipyard. Nevertheless, this hard-top yacht with its open cockpit requires summer conditions to live aboard, as the galley and saloon are only located outside. Its large fuel and fresh water tanks, of 1540 L and 300 L respectively, are also in this sense.

With beautiful finishes and carefully designed fittings, the 470 Regina has an assumed high-end positioning.
