Test / Quarken 27, good value in a competitive Nordic market

A newcomer to the market, Quarken faces stiff competition in the Nordic boat market, with its sharp lines and narrow silhouette. In this final instalment of our test, we take a close look at the Quarken 27's options, pricing and competition.

Good value for money

The standard price for the Quarken 27 T-Top, including the 300 hp Yamaha engine, is ?97,000 plus VAT. This standard equipment includes front and rear bench seating, a rear cockpit table and a double berth cabin with electric toilet. To optimize the Quarken 27, the shipyard offers four packages: Convenience, Premium, Weekend and Mooring.

The first, which is also the most expensive - ?9,500 - also includes a wireless phone charger, bow thruster, trim, a second 12" Garmin screen and a Fusion audio system with 4 speakers. The Weekend package, which focuses more on the interior - 30 L refrigerator, curtain divider for the toilet, more efficient electric toilet... is priced at ?6,500.

Other options are also available à la carte, such as the forward cockpit table and sunbathing cushions at ?1,365. Electronics can also be upgraded, such as the Yamaha autopilot at ?3,105. The ski mast costs ?768.

Tough competition and a sector leader

There are many players in the Nordic boat market. Starting with the industry leader Axopar. Others include Saxdor, Nimbus and Ryck.

L' Axopar 28 T-Top at 9.18 m in length, it is slightly longer, but offers the same deck configuration, with double berths. The price is ?53,500 ex VAT, without engine, and with less standard equipment. For example, on this model, the toilet is not included, so you'll have to add an option at ?2,600. In Brabus trim, with numerous options and powered by a 300 hp Mercury, the price is around ?145,000 incl. VAT.
