Test / Windy 34 layout, protected cockpit and cabin for 4 people

With an unparalleled finish, the Windy 34's accommodations are truly above the rest, as we see in the second part of our test. Built with real marine know-how by the Swedish shipyard, this cabin cruiser sets the tone for pleasant cruising.

The Windy 34 is a cabin cruiser, or sport cruiser. This means that it offers both a low profile on the water, without wheelhouse or T-top, to keep a slim line, but it also offers a real cabin under the deck to allow the crew to sleep and consider short cruising. However, this type of boat, even with an overall length of 10.30 m, will be more often used for day trips during which one enjoys the sun on the deck, rather than being locked up in the cabin.

Circulation inside the cockpit

The Windy 34 is easily boarded via the rear platform. This one is wide enough to hide the Z-drive base. We move around the cockpit along the port side. Too narrow, the gangways are not passable. One circulates inside the cockpit. Very deep and very protected, this cockpit will be reassuring if you are sailing with children.

Above the engine hold, whose trunk opens with an electric jack, a large sundeck accommodates at least 3 people. It is located just behind the outside saloon, with its table and two benches facing each other. A small single bench seat completes the farniente part of this cockpit.

Ultra comfortable seats

Protected behind the windshield, the cockpit has 3 seats facing the road. Very comfortable seats that offer a sitting or half-seated position. Just next to the steering wheel, a few steps give access to the front deck via a tilting windshield.

Without any protective balcony, which also contributes to this aggressive silhouette, walking on this space requires a certain balance. There is a sunbathing area and the anchor locker with the electric windlass. Even if there are simple handrails on each side, they will be there more to fix the fenders than to offer a real security. It will be prudent to prohibit this space during the navigations.

Pure craftsmanship

Before going to the cabin below deck, let's note the work done on the upholstery which offers comfortable seats and finishes. The quality of the foams and fabrics used are really above average. We can't imagine walking on it with shoes on, so as not to dirty them, but above all to enjoy the contact with bare feet.

A cabin with 4 beds

Going down in the cabin, we appreciate the luminosity brought by the 2 large portholes on the sides. The layout is designed for 4 people, with a double bed in the forward point, and two single beds in the mid-cabin under the cockpit.

Logically, the headroom is low in this space. A kitchen on the port side and a bathroom opposite complete this installation, which opens the door to small family cruises. We note the XXL size of the bathroom, with a shower separate from the toilet, rare on a 10-meter unit. On the other hand, the front sleeping area does not become a dining area. Meals are therefore only taken in the cockpit.

All the fittings are distinguished by a high-end finish with an assembly and materials that differentiate them from the competition.
