Test / Accommodation and life on board the Solaris 57 Lobster, sober elegance and refinement

Before sailing in the bay of Cannes, we visit the Solaris 57 Power. Her facilities breathe luxury and comfort with some very practical assets for life at sea and at anchor

The Solaris 57 is offered with several interior layouts, from two to four cabins, plus a service cabin, which make the most of the available space. In the two-cabin version, there is a choice between the galley downstairs or in the saloon on deck. In the latter case, there is a bench seat facing the cabins instead of the galley, or a third cabin with bunk beds. The lower galley is very spacious, but it is unfortunate that the companionway leading down to it is too prominent and spoils the desired ease, even if its stainless steel railing shows all the craftsmanship of the shipyard. The two VIP cabins are very spacious and each has its own bathroom with separate shower cubicle. The forward cabin can be separated into two cabins, one with twin beds that can be joined together, and the other with bunk beds. This forward layout with the side twin cabin brings the number of berths to eight, which is appreciable in this size. In the forepeak, a seaman's cabin is accessible from a deck hatch, it is nevertheless rather small, uncomfortable and only suitable for short periods.

A sober and very chic finish

Our two-cabin version was dressed with a matt light walnut interior of the highest quality. Combined with leather and/or stainless steel handles, light-coloured leather and fabric upholstery, which is enhanced by a subtle play of light, this decoration is both classic/modern and warm and leaves no doubt as to the safety of the transalpine taste. The lacquered materials of the kitchen or the small alcoves and shelves here and there contribute to a luxurious feeling in a sober and elegant style that is second to none. The equipment is of course at the level of sophistication desired.

A superb deck plan

Outdoor life is also important and on this side nothing is missing to make the most of relaxation. The circulation is optimized around the wide and cosy front and rear sunbathing areas. The table in the middle can accommodate six to eight guests without any problem and the sunroof on the carbon roof receives another sunbathing area accessible from the wheelhouse via a staircase. The aft sundeck is not very large, but the hydraulically submersible staircase for swimming is great.
