A dedicated building site
Whilst we are aware of the reputation for quality of the yachts produced in Aquileia, destined to compete with the finest Scandinavian productions, we tend to forget that since 1974, Solaris was one of the first Italian shipyards to build lobster boats of very high quality. At the end of the 20th century, it was normal for Solaris to come and play in Hinckley's yard with a 47-foot Express Cruiser as much as it did to Swan and Halberg-Rassy with its impeccably finished yachts. Since 2008, however, the brand has dedicated a shipyard in Forli, in the manufacture of yacht engines, as a subcontractor for a brand which is a leader in the top of the range segment from 40 to 90 feet. The collaboration as designer of Norberto Ferretti, having left the brand that bears his name, the arrival in the capital of Giuseppe Giuliani, as well as the know-how developed by the teams, capable of combining cutting-edge technology with highly accomplished traditional craftsmanship, naturally led to the launch of this new range of "Lobster Boats", made in Italy.
A vintage dress, modern underwear
With their curved, slender and elusive shapes all in roundness, lobster boats have been seducing since 1930, demanding yachtsmen in terms of elegance and finish. The segment has seen many technological innovations incorporated over the years into the timeless lines of its vintage launches. Solaris is striking with this new range, whose exterior and interior development has been entrusted to Victory Design. With hulls designed by the firm's creator, Brunello Acampora, which since 2005 has specialised in adapting hulls to Volvo's IPS propulsion technology, very convincing performance is targeted in terms of comfort, speed and fuel consumption in order to endow these boats with an exceptional dynamic appeal while recalling the silhouette of the transatlantic races of the belle époque.
And technology as a bonus
With three Open models of 44, 48 and 58 feet, three Flybridge models of 48, 57 and 70 feet, in addition to the two Lobsters of 48 and 57 feet, Solaris intends to cover a fairly broad demand and uses very modern technology to match the desires of 21st century yachtsmen. Walkaround deck, allowing the removal of unsightly railings without altering the line or safety. Tilting bulwark sides to enlarge the deck by 20%. Multiple sunbathing areas for relaxation and a descent to the water by a hydraulic ladder are the assets of an indispensable modern functionality that are harmoniously integrated into this vintage look that does not leave one indifferent.
