Explore without limits: what's behind the XPD 46, a 15 m rigid hull from Technohul

With the launch of the XPD 46, Technohull, specialist in large RIBs, introduces a cruising ride hull designed for the open sea. Designed for all-season use, it combines a modular superstructure with a technical hull. This model is designed to meet the needs of sailors looking for versatility and autonomy, and follows in the footsteps of the Axopars.

With the XPD 46, Technohull inaugurates a new "Expedition Series" dedicated to all-season cruising in all conditions. This 14.85 m unit, with its Dynastream Deep-V hull and convertible superstructure, aims to meet the growing demand for modularity and safety in the offshore RIB segment. The concept is not new, but its execution here stands in stark contrast to the usual productions, oriented towards summer yachting or one-off uses.

A central superstructure with variable geometry

The heart of the XPD 46 lies in its adaptable central cabin. Designed as a multifunctional space, it can be totally enclosed for maximum protection against the elements, or open for ventilated summer cruising. The sliding roof, retractable doors and large aft opening offer a wide range of combinations. This type of configuration responds to a real need for flexibility in both coastal and ocean cruising, particularly during inter-seasonal transits or in the Mediterranean in winter.

A performance-oriented hull for rough seas

Technohull continues its expertise in fast hulls with the Dynastream Deep-V ventilated step design. The presence of a high-volume bow, combined with a high freeboard and longitudinal step, enables a smoother wave attack and reduces impacts. High-speed stability is enhanced by the steps, which help to reduce hydrodynamic drag. This hull architecture has been designed to support a motorization of up to 1,800 hp (3x600 hp), enabling speeds in excess of 50 knots.

A Mediterranean approach to landscaping

Although designed for exploration, the XPD 46 does not renounce a certain art of living on board. The aft cockpit features a central sunbathing area with a double-opening locker for a tender or beach equipment. A second relaxation area is located forward, on the deckhouse. The 4.40 m useful width, enhanced by secure gangways and an uncluttered deck layout, makes for easy circulation. These spaces can be used for a variety of purposes: coastal stopovers, swimming at anchor, or extended cruising.

An interior layout designed for relaxation and separation of spaces

Below deck, the XPD 46 is structured around a central saloon and two independent cabins. The owner's cabin is located forward, accessible via the console, and features a private head. At the stern, a guest cabin offers a transverse double berth. An optional skipper's area is available under the aft sundeck. This layout makes for a more comfortable cohabitation for long, short-handed cruises or charter operations.

A modular configuration that can be motorized according to program

Available in both outboard and inboard versions, the XPD 46 offers a range of engines to suit owners' preferences: easy maintenance for outboards, silence and platform savings for inboards. The shipyard claims a light displacement of around 12 tonnes, which makes top-of-the-range motorization almost indispensable to maintain high performance.
