While Jeanneau waited to see the large open boat trend evolve before entering the market, it has brought a slightly different design to the table with a semi-open boat. In this final part of our test, we look at the DB/37's essential options and the competition.

Well-thought-out options

The DB/37, although designed as a dayboat, can also be used for extended cruising with its two beautiful cabins. Already well equipped as standard, certain options can be added to further enhance comfort. To facilitate customer choice, Jeanneau offers two finishing packages - Ice Blue or Macadamia White - including numerous options such as additional portholes and deck hatches, electric decks and removable bench seat backrests. This package, which takes advantage of the cockpit's modularity, is priced at ?22,700 ex VAT.

You'll also need to add the Raymarine electronics package, offered in two versions and costing between ?5,700 and ?9,100. Finally, the closing covers, which allow protected sailing, are extra. Total protection costs ?12,050 ex VAT.

The standard price for the DB/37 with its two 320 hp Volvo Penta D4 engines is ?414,000 ex VAT. The joystick version costs ?436,400 ex VAT. If we take into account the important options for family cruising, the total price including VAT is around ?566,000. Given Jeanneau's performance in terms of equipment and design quality, the DB/37 is well positioned on the market in terms of value for money.

Strong competition in the premium dayboat market

Over the past few years, the boating world has seen the emergence of ever larger open dayboats, with inboard motors, but also outboard motors with ever more powerful engines. Forerunners include Del Pardo and Solaris Power. Today, a large number of shipyards have entered the liveaboard dayboat market.

Invictus Yacht's competition includes the TT420, a 12.1 m yacht with a similar design and program to the DB/37. The styling is more Italian and Mediterranean, but the cockpit layout and two below-deck cabins are based on the same program. Pricing is almost double that of the DB/37, with a selling price including VAT of around 1 million euros.

Another Italian model is the Solaris 40 Open, 11.97 m long. This model features a more open deck layout, with a less protective hard-top. The interior layout is similar, with two cabins and a washroom. Once again, the proposed price is higher, at around ?980,000 incl. VAT.

In a more open style, the Pardo 38, the smallest model in the range at 11.56 in length, costs around ?800,000 incl. VAT.
