Test / Parker 700 Pilothouse: Test sailing

part 2 of our test of the Parker 700 Pilothouse, time for sailing. With a V-shaped hull, a light hull and a 200 hp engine, the Parker 700 Pilothouse offers safe seaworthiness. An ideal unit for getting out to sea with a few fishing rods and friends.

Light chop in the rocky channels on this September day. Ideal to test a fairly light hull, 1640 kg, and discover how it behaves.

A hull tolerant of high engine power

As for the engine, we were able to test the Parker 700 Pilothouse with its maximum power, a 200 horsepower Honda. The recommended power by the yard is 150 horsepower. However, the 200 horsepower is pleasant, but not overpowering. They never threw us off and even with the handle in the corner, we always kept control of the boat.

With this engine, we reached 32.5 knots at full speed at 5400 rpm. But it is around 23 knots that the boat is pleasant, and that it will be able to make the road without shaking its crew too much.

Good protection and comfort for the pilot

Well sheltered under the wheelhouse, the pilot has a good view of the water. Sitting or standing in front of the pilot's seat, he keeps a good safety of control, especially as the height under barrots at this place is 2,15 m. The V-shaped hull does not have a step. This is not important, because the boat quickly gets out of the water in 6 seconds. Note the good deflection of the front V, which avoids having to use the wipers too much.

Good stability

When cornering, the Parker 700 Pilothouse takes on an angle, but not too much. Passengers never feel unsafe. And when drifting, the boat is naturally positioned crosswind. Two or three anglers can be on the same side without causing excessive heeling.

Simple, efficient, not banging, and above all, without harmful vibrations, the Parker 700 Pilothousse meets its specifications: a 7-meter walk-around fishing boat for day trips with a few friends. An ideal unit for our coasts when you like to sail even if the weather is not necessarily suitable, while remaining well protected under the wheelhouse.
