Test / Presentation of the Monte Carlo 52 Bénéteau as part of its sea trial

We tried the MC 52, which is intended to take over from the MC 5. It's bigger and bulkier, with its two feet more it does better than its predecessor in all areas.

Strategic repositioning

The range of luxury cruisers, MC 5 and MC 6, launched by Bénéteau in 2013 has marked the spirits with some kinship with the other brand of the group based in Monfalcone "Monte Carlo Yachts". The MC 5, which has sold more than a hundred units, is the first to undergo this renewal, which aims to get even closer to the transalpine lineage and the competition, which is tough in this segment of the family mini yacht. Andreani Design for the interior and Nuvolari & Lenard for the superstructure have been appointed to carry out this mission.

The "smart luxury" concept

Strong competition means rapid evolution. The adaptation of the glass surface on the sides of the hull and the roof, which is larger, is essential to let the light in. A better perception of luxury is also necessary, the hull colors are warmer and more discreet, and the coatings used are more shimmering to the eye and to the touch. The slimming of the silhouette with the length and width increased respectively by one meter and 30 centimeters generates an increased elegance to seduce a very courted clientele. The less vertical bow moves away from the Lobster boat side to join the more popular Mediterranean models. The round portholes, a distinctive feature of the Monte Carlo brand, have been skilfully integrated into the large longitudinal hull portholes, as has the subtly applied bow sign, which distinguishes the family link of this new range.

An optimized hull

Comfort is an essential component of luxury. The hull was therefore the object of attention from its architect Amedeo Migali. Better chop passage, early planning and moderate fuel consumption were the crucial points of a specification oriented towards the integration of a 2 x 440 or 2 x 480 horsepower Volvo IPS engine. The balsa sandwich construction provides good sound and thermal insulation, which is expected at least on this type of unit, which is looking for the performance found on larger yachts.
