Capturing the sea, a compilation of sea images taken on board

By bringing together images of skippers and crews taken during offshore races, Fabrice Amedeo shares these moments of life at sea with the reader.

Fabrice Amedeo is a skipper journalist. He currently participates in the Vendée Globe 2016-17 on Newrest-Matmut. Before taking the start of this mythical race, he published a book, Capturer le large.

Capturer le Large

This book is a compilation of images taken from the shore during the various offshore races. Vendée Globe, Route du Rhum, Volvo Ocean Race, Jules Vernes Trophy, Solitaire du Figaro... but also older races such as the crewed round the world race. All the big races are represented through pictures of the crews.

Capturer le Large

Sorted by themes (manoeuvres, portraits, heavy weather, life on board...), the photos answer each other. The long legends are teeming with detail and precision. Sailors often take the floor to explain the context of the image.

Capturer le Large

Little text but beautiful images. It's a pity that printing on matte paper doesn't enhance them as it should. Beyond this detail, the book has the advantage of taking us aboard the sailboats and making us live inside moments of adventure with these sailors. A beautiful idea well realized from its author, who is today also actor among these navigators.
