Test / Sterk 31 RC: A deck layout adapted to small cruisers for a boat that remains sporty

MS Marine offers two types of deck layout on board the Sterk 31: the WB version, for Wet Bar, and the RC, for Rear Cabin. It's the latter that we're going to introduce to you in this second part of our test

In the 2 e as part of this test, we're going to show you the deck layout and fittings of the Sterk 31 RC. Take a look.

Easier circulation on a deck with very few steps

The Sterk 31 RC can be boarded via two large bathing platforms surrounding the twin engines. The German shipyard offers two layout versions, covering the aft third of the 7.99 m hull. The WB (Wet Bar) version features a large U-shaped bench seat that converts into a sundeck.

Our test model is the RC (Rear Cabin) version, which features a rear cabin under a large solarium.

Whichever version you choose, the rear deck remains level, making it easy to move around on board.

A cabin that remains limited

The large sundeck can accommodate three people. The central section can be raised by two jacks to access the double cabin. The 200x140 cm berth is brightly lit by two portholes that can be opened for ventilation.

Nevertheless, the very low headroom will remain a hindrance for claustrophobic sailors.

A cockpit with optimized styling

Ahead of the large sundeck is a three-seater bench seat, close to the two helm seats. These swivel to create a central living area. Two refrigeration units are integrated under the bench seat, to ensure a supply of cold drinks on long days at anchor.

An optional T-Top can fully protect this central square.

Further forward, the cockpit windscreen is encircled by an elegant aluminum post, which acts as a handrail. The whole cockpit is functional and stylish.

Everything is easily accessible. The two control screens, developed in-house, are perfectly legible. An induction charger completes the on-board instrumentation.

On the port side, a large protective pocket allows passengers to store their personal belongings.

The driving position is very good, making it easy to get to grips with this resolutely sporty unit, as we'll see in part 3 of this test.

On the side decks, the bulwarks accommodate the carbon supports for the shade cloth. These will have to be modified, as they provide insufficient support for the composite tubes.

Modular front end

The front of the console opens into the shower room, equipped with shower, washbasin and WC. The headroom of 1.8 m ensures a less oppressive reception than in the aft cabin.

At the very front, a large U-shaped bench seat conceals large storage compartments, including the removable table for this living space.

If required, this front area can also be transformed into a sunbathing area.

Almost the entire bulwark is fitted with a discreet handrail. The Sterk 31 RC always offers the possibility of getting around. The deck covering on our test model was made of Eva Soft, a particularly pleasant material for bare feet.

Finally, the electrical panel and engine filters are easily accessible for on-board maintenance.
