Leader 9.0 WA Series 2, Jeanneau on familiar ground for a versatile open boat

Taking up the DNA of its predecessors, the Leader 9.0 WA Series 2 replaces the first model in the range, released in 2017. Take a look at this highly versatile open, which adapts to a multitude of programs.

On a hull designed by Michael Peters and Patrice Sarazin, the Jeanneau shipyard has used the same elements for the 9.0 that have made the Leader 10.5 and 12.5 so successful, both of which have been on the market for two years.

An ingenious, modular deck layout

Access to the Leader 9.0 WA Series 2 is via a large opening on the port side, which closes with a sturdy stainless steel gate. Two large bathing platforms, which can be fitted with a handrail, flank the twin engine.

On starboard is a saloon with an L-shaped bench seat. This is modular, with a fold-down backrest that opens onto the aft platform. 6 guests can be seated around the table, which faces a small bench integrated into the bulwark.

To transform the cockpit into a sunbathing area, simply lower the large table and deploy the optional T-top extension for protection from the sun.

On the port side, a tilting opening in the bulwark increases the deck area, making swimming at anchor a pleasure.

Opposite the bench seat in the aft saloon, the shipyard has installed a galley equipped with a refrigeration unit, grill, hob and sink. An optional livewell can be installed to cater for day fishermen.

The cockpit can accommodate the pilot and a passenger. Two ergonomic seats provide excellent support. The dashboard features two 12-inch screens.

The cockpit is protected by a solid windshield. Surrounded by an aluminum insert, it provides both an aesthetic touch and a handrail for access to the front.

In front of the cockpit is a large sundeck with integrated headrests, seating three. A central opening provides light via the forward cabin deck hatch.

The anchor locker is well-built, and will accommodate some of the fenders.

Two cabins for the short cruise

A three-step descent leads directly to the front cabin.

On the port side, there's a small storage unit incorporating a "breakfast point" for preparing breakfast on chilly mornings.

On the starboard side, you'll find the shower room, with a separate shower but integrated toilet, and a washbasin. The second cabin is accessed by going around the companionway to lie under the aft cockpit. As headroom is very limited, this cabin is ideal for children or young adults.

Three motorization options

Owners can choose between 2x200, 2x225 or 2x250 horsepower twin engines. Powered by the brand-new Yamaha F250 XSA with integrated hydraulics, the Leader 9.0 WA reaches a top speed of 43 knots.

The basic version, without options and with two 200 hp engines, is priced at ?169,090 incl. VAT. Our visited model, with options such as bimini, deck trim and bow thruster, costs ?241,866 incl. VAT.

Well-finished and highly versatile, this new Leader confirms the Vendée shipyard's expertise in this legendary range. There are few faults to be found on this 8.73 m unit, except perhaps the profusion of different equipment to try to best adapt to all programs.
