Dual outboard motors
We're off to the pontoons in Cannes to test the Leader 10.5 CC. With a light 5-knot wind and a small chop, conditions were perfect for testing the hull of our model, powered by two 425 hp Yamaha V8 5.6 L engines. The maximum power offered is 450 hp each, but the most popular package sold is 2x300 hp.

Comfortable, quiet navigation
There are 5 of us on board and the 2x400-liter fuel tanks are full. We sail along the breakwater to leave the harbor and throttle up as we enter the bay. After 7.73 seconds, the Leader 10.5 CC is on schedule and we reach 20 knots in just 9 seconds. At 28 knots, it's easy to enjoy the sailing from the safety of the foredeck, while still being able to have a conversation. At 30 knots, the sailing is really comfortable, without the impression of being at nearly 60 km/h.

A playful, sporty hull
The hull of the Leader 10.5 CC is playful, without snagging in the chop or stalling when cornering. Controls are fluid and the boat's response instantaneous. Cruising is pleasantly smooth, even at high speed on rough seas. When cornering, the heel is a little more pronounced at higher speeds.
We accelerate again, and although there are 5 of us on board, we reach 43.7 knots at a maximum speed of 5559 rpm. Fuel consumption is now 279L/H, or 6.3L/mile, giving a range of around 120 miles. Yard data, based on the same engine - 2x425 XTO - and 75% trim, indicate a top speed of 47 knots at 6,000 rpm.

Reasonable power consumption for many programs
In response to a family program, the cruising speed of 22 knots seems relatively appropriate. So does fuel consumption, with 90L/H at 3,500 rpm, giving a range of around 200 miles. At 27 knots, fuel consumption remains just as reasonable, at 4.1L per mile with 5 people on board and a well-equipped boat.
At sea, the Leader 10.5 CC proves once again the versatility of the programs on offer. Families can cruise comfortably and safely with their children. Pilots looking for more thrills will be able to step on the throttle and put in some great performances.
