Italian shipyard Itama, a subsidiary of the Ferretti Group, is returning to a segment it has somewhat neglected in recent years: that of intermediate open cruisers. The Itama 54, presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2025, has repositioned the brand in the 16 to 17-meter cruiser segment, a popular format for Mediterranean cruising.

Completely redesigned traffic flow on the main bridge
Access to the forepeak is no longer via the center of the windshield, but via a side passage to starboard. This frees up the companionway to the cabin, leaving the main deck hatch open. A useful configuration for ventilation and, above all, a smoother passage to and from the cabin. On the cockpit side, two living areas have been created: a classic aft space, with U-shaped sofas, and a second protected area, closer to the windshield, for sailing without too much wind. The whole can accommodate up to 10 people.

Optimized volumes for water sports
Under the stern sundeck, a 1,800-liter volume makes it easy to store nautical toys and small equipment. The reconfigured sundeck also extends cockpit space. Access on board is via a door on the port side. An outside galley is equipped with fridge, sink, ice maker and induction hob.

A new dashboard with Simrad equipment
The steering console is equipped with two 12" Simrad screens (expandable to 16), and a double seat with integrated cup holders and storage. Full-frame panoramic glazing lighten the silhouette and bring more light to the whole.

Below deck: roominess and modularity
The Itama 54 is designed with two cabins and two bathrooms. The forward owner's cabin features a central bed, side portholes and a deck hatch. It also has a private bathroom. The guest mid-cabin can be configured with a double bed or bunk beds. It also has its own shower room, which can be used as a day toilet for guests.

The galley is located on the starboard side, opposite the dining area. It features induction hobs, a full-height refrigerator and can be complemented by an oven and dishwasher. Interior furnishings combine wood, leather and light-colored fabrics, with metal ceiling strips concealing the lighting.

Propulsion: two MAN options and a Seakeeper option
Two engine options are available: MAN 730 hp (top speed 33 N) or MAN 850 hp (up to 37 N). Cruising speed is around 28 N. The Itama 54 can be fitted with a Seakeeper gyroscopic stabilizer, electro-hydraulic steering and flaps.

Ferretti Group: Italian-style production
The Itama 54 is designed by the Strategic Product Committee headed by Piero Ferrari, in conjunction with the Ferretti Group's design office. Manufacturing takes place in Italy, in one of the Group's 7 production units. Today, Ferretti controls several emblematic yachting brands, including Riva, Pershing, Wally, CRN and Custom Line.
