On the Grand Pavois pontoon
On the pontoons in La Rochelle, you immediately recognize the Breton shipyard's signature. The unit, just out of Loctudy, displays the same functional simplicity as the Pogo yachts. The first thing visitors notice is the hull: slim profile, measured freeboard, straight bow and uncluttered cockpit. Nothing seems superfluous. Below the line, the two small grounding fins intrigue, a rare detail on a 13-meter launch.
On board, Paul Bourroulec, manager of Pogo Structures, " We wanted a motorized boat that kept the Pogo spirit: light, simple, and made to go far without depending on a dense port network."
The engine version of the Pogo philosophy
The Loxo 40 is a direct evolution of the Loxo 32, launched in 2018. Longer, more livable, but only slightly heavier, it boasts just 4 t for 12.80 m x 3.75 m.

This lightness is the key to the entire design: single-engine Yanmar from 150 to 250 hp depending on the version, fuel consumption reduced to 0.8 l/mile and a range of over 600 miles thanks to a 480 l diesel tank.

The site remains true to its processes: vacuum infusion, foam sandwich, interior partitioning and structure integrated into the furniture. The results can be read on the scale and felt in the performance. " We didn't set out to make a bigger boat, but a fairer one." adds Tanguy Bourroulec, pointing to the hull plan displayed next to the stand.
On board, consistency comes first

The tour begins with the spacious, modular cockpit. A central table folds away to create a large sunbathing area.

Well-sized side decks lead to the bow. Forward of the cockpit is a complete exterior helm station, with electric controls, repeaters and integrated bow thruster.

Inside, the surprise is in the light. Large expanses of glass encircle the wheelhouse, letting in light along the entire length of the saloon. Light-colored woodwork and gray floors contrast with the sober upholstery.

Two double cabins occupy the bow and center of the boat. A separate bathroom with walk-in shower is a reminder of the importance of family cruising.

In the saloon, the long galley features a refrigerator, oven and two burners. To starboard, the interior helm station offers remarkable 180-degree visibility. The position is natural, the helm sits comfortably and the controls are easy to read.

Assertive technical choices

Under the floors, everything is accessible: Yanmar engine, batteries, tanks and ducts. The site has been designed for ease of maintenance and servicing.

The reduced draught of 0.75 m and the beaching fins allow beachage or anchoring in tidal zones. Visitors from Brittany and Normandy are taking a keen interest, aware of the advantages of such a system.
The advertised range exceeds 1,000 miles at 10 knots, a figure that will appeal to trawler owners and slow sailors alike. The unit retains CE B certification, a guarantee of safety in semi-offshore sailing.
A well-received concept in La Rochelle

On the Grand Pavois pontoon, reactions are unanimous: sobriety, consistency and efficiency.

Some visitors compare the Loxo 40 to a motorized Pogo, others to a "sailboat without a mast". The parallel is not inaccurate. Same approach to weight, same construction logic, same spirit of independence. " This boat isn't out to impress. It simply offers a different, freer and simpler way of sailing" sums up a visitor from La Rochelle, a former trawler owner.

An average price for technical boats
The Loxo 40 starts at ?320,000 ex VAT, or around ?384,000 incl. VAT, with the basic 150 hp engine. Standard equipment includes bow thruster, electric windlass, water heater and full upholstery.
Positioned in the light cruiser category, it is aimed at autonomous sailors who are sensitive to fuel consumption and simplified maintenance. With the Loxo 40, Pogo Structures offers a different interpretation of motor cruising. Far from powerful, massive motorboats, the Breton shipyard focuses on lightness, glide and freedom. On the stand at the Grand Pavois in La Rochelle, the public made no mistake: this boat is for those who prefer the sea to the marina, and simplicity to excess.
