Training runs with no impact on the rest of the competition

After several days of racing during which each syndicate duelled, a hierarchy began to emerge. But this ranking should be taken with a pinch of salt, as this series of regattas, with no results at stake, is also an opportunity to simply measure up against an opponent, and if need be, to raise the stakes to disguise one's potential.
A Defender victory

With four wins and just one defeat against the Americans, the New Zealanders have imposed their rhythm and ease on the Barcelona race course. As Emirates Team New Zealand skipper Peter Burling confirms
" I think it was incredibly difficult to sail in those conditions, we had quite a few problems that we managed on the boat, but we were lucky before the start and got a penalty on them. I was surprised that the second penalty was deactivated while they were still ahead of us - but then we stuck to our guns and made an overtake from there, which was really nice. "
And Burling adds: " We expected it to be tight and we struggled to find the right gear changes, but it's going to be a tight regatta. It's about making sure you have the right phases and sail the boat in the right places. I think we were a little frustrated with the way we sailed today, but there's a lot to work on afterwards ."
The French are still looking for success

In contrast to the New Zealanders, the Frenchmen of Team Orient Express conceded four defeats, and one victory through the withdrawal of their American opponent, the same man who had got the better of the New Zealanders.
But the crew led by Quentin Delapierre showed good potential, with some fine tactical moves. The whole Orient Express team remains focused on building power and securing a place among the challengers.
