Team RockIt : First regatta for the female duo and their Sunfast 3300

British sailors Dee Caffari and Shirley Robertson, with a great track record of success, take us on a tour of their double-handed Sun Fast 3300 racing season. After the final adjustments, it's time to take part in a first race off Cowes.

A thorough preparation

While the Sun Fast 3300 is a popular production boat, the preparation of the two British skippers, Dee Caffari and Shirley Robertson, remains that of high-level sailing specialists. They check the alignment of the keel and mast with a laser and do not neglect any technical detail, which led them not to take part in the first race initially planned in their schedule. The two sailors are therefore all the more eager to compete.

First training

On the eve of their almost 24-hour race in the south of England, Dee and Shirley had a few practice sails, which gave them the opportunity to get some nice aerial shots in the Solent and to watch the professionals at work.

A varied race in the south of the Isle of Wight

In the United Kingdom, it is in the vicinity of the Isle of Wight that the duo will race their first double-handed race. After a sunny start in a fleet with many Sun Fast 3300s, the two women found their settings and were quite satisfied. After leaving the Solent and passing Poole, it was getting dark. The darkness and some bad sail choices will unfortunately put a strain on the gains made by Team Rock It. They finished 11th out of a fleet of 29 boats, but are looking forward to learning from the race in preparation for the main event of the season, the Round Britain and Ireland. The next training regatta will allow to measure this progress!
