Test / Merry Fisher 1295 Fly, a rare competitor in the 40-foot fly-outboard market

We conclude our review of the Merry Fisher 1295 Fly with a look at pricing and competition in this 4th article. It turns out that in France, few manufacturers have invested in this segment.

A few options to add

The Merry Fischer 1295 Fly is offered with a 300 hp Yamaha NSB2-LX, U, X SBW Yamaha White package with electric drive, integrated electric steering, autopilot and dual joystick, at the March 2024 all-inclusive price of ?561,980. As with every model from the shipyard, a list of finishes and options is available to personalize your boat.

The Première Fly finish includes a number of must-have options, such as a bar and chain counter control in the interior cockpit, 3-person front lounger upholstery, LED interior mood lighting, 144-liter refrigerator and electric flaps. The price is ?13,956 incl. VAT.

Several packs are also available, such as the Garmin electronics pack in two versions (2 or 3 screens), priced at ?8,556 inc. tax for the basic version and ?12,768 for the upgraded version.

Finally, several options have been added to the basic model, such as the all-electric galley with oven and hob at ?3,240 incl. VAT, or the flybridge sunbathing area and its protection at ?2,598.

Weak competition in the 40-foot fly outboard market

From the point of view of the competition, few similar models are offered in outboard version, inboard propulsion being the predominant choice of shipyards for this type of unit. Bénéteau, which belongs to the same group as Jeanneau, offers the Antares 12 with its 12.97 m length, it features a similar configuration. Standard as a double outboard, it also has the same engine power of 900 hp as an option. The base price for the Antares 12 is ?505,560 (incl. VAT) bareboat. Adding the three outboards and several options, the price could be slightly higher than that of the Merry Fisher 1295 Fly.

The American brand Regal Boats also offers a similar model with the Regal 42 FXO 12.85 m, with more powerful 3x425 Yahama XTO engines. Inside, there are just two cabins, but the deck and fly configuration are equivalent. The price, however, is well above that of the Merry Fisher 1295 Fly, at over ?700,000.

Finally, the Polish Parker can be compared with the Monaco 110 Flybridge smaller. The model has an overall length of 11.70 m and is powered by a 2x350 hp twin outboard engine. The price here is lower than that of our test model, at around ?310,000 for a new model equipped with 2x300 hp Suzuki.
