Team RockIt: A season of double-handed racing in a Sunfast 3300 with the pros

Experienced British sailors Dee Caffari and Shirley Robertson share their season on the double-handed racing circuit in the Sun Fast 3300. A friendly approach and beautiful images on a high performance boat but accessible to the amateur sailor.

A renowned British crew

Shirley Robertson is a leading figure in UK sailing. A two-time gold medalist in sailing, she is also a face of the sport in the media and has already chronicled her final season alongside Henry Bomby in 2021. For her 2022 season, she is teaming up with ocean racing specialist Dee Caffari, who has previously competed in the Vendée Globe and Volvo Ocean Race. Their all-female double-handed crew, named Team RockIt, has a rare record of success and has set its sights on the Round Britain and Ireland Race as its goal for the British double-handed season. We'll follow them throughout the season with some great footage and editing by Tim Butt of Isle of Wight-based Vertigo.

Preparing the Sun Fast 3300

While many ocean racing videos focus on prototype boats 100% dedicated to ocean racing, Team RockIt takes us on board a Sun Fast 3300, a boat designed for solo and double-handed events, but on a circuit mixing enlightened amateurs and professionals. The opportunity to project yourself more easily in the event.

In this first episode, Shirley Robertson and Dee Caffari take possession of the boat provided by Jeanneau dealer Sea Ventures and take the opportunity to introduce it to us. While the first few tacks are conclusive, even great professional skippers need time to get the hang of their boat...
