A user-friendly and modular cockpit
The Next 220 with its 7.35 m length and 2.50 m width is transportable by road, which makes it a perfect dayboat for a sunny day. Produced by the Italian shipyard Ranieri International it is approved in category C and can carry up to 7 people. Its simple deck plan is well thought out, starting with the fairly long aft skirts with swim ladder. The cockpit, which is accessible on the port side, has an interesting layout with several possible configurations.

The rear seat has a high back and armrests. It has a storage locker, but can also be enlarged into a sunbathing area by folding out an extension and adding a cushion. Two folding seats with backrests can be added laterally in the cockpit. Finally, the two seats in the cockpit swivel to create a convivial saloon around a side table.

A cabin to rest
The cockpit allows for a comfortable driving position thanks to the seat cushions that can be raised. The seats are also adjustable in height and in the distance to the console. Convenient for smaller people! A windshield with stainless steel handrails allows for safe navigation and traffic flow.
The steering console houses a cabin below deck with a double bed in the front for two people and the possibility of installing a toilet. At the rear, behind the companionway, there is an extra bed, but the reduced space is more suitable for storing belongings or for a small child.

A front beach for relaxation
Finally, the large front deck is entirely dedicated to sunbathing with a backrest/headrest at the front of the console. The anchor locker at the front is also hidden under a cushion. Finally, there is a polyester nose with a balcony and a step for disembarking from the front. The Next 220 shares with its big brother the Next 240 the width, the sunbathing area of the front deck and the console.

The construction is made in Italy at the Soverato yard. This is also the case for the stainless steel, the upholstery and the finishing touches, which are beautifully crafted.
A 150 hp configuration for family use and comfort
In order to offer a family package with maximum comfort on board, Ranieri has opted for a boat package more honda engine of 150 hp. This inline 4-cylinder is offered with electric or manual steering. Renewed, it integrates a new design and offers a quieter navigation, as we could see.

A stable and secure boat
It is thus in this power configuration that we could test the Next 220. The boat is also available as a twin-engine boat and its maximum power is 250 hp. Its step hull gives it a good stability, even if our protected stretch of water in the Thau Lagoon was flat calm, with an east wind of 7 to 8 knots.
The Next 220 lifts off after 4 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 32 knots at 6000 rpm (with trim). According to the technical data provided by the engine manufacturer, the maximum speed is 36 knots and the fuel consumption is 53.2 liters/hour. Our model did not allow us to note the consumption. Its cruising speed is between 20 and 25 knots (4000/4500 rpm) with a consumption of 18.4 L/h and 23 L/h, that is to say a yield of 1.08 miles per liter. The volume of the fuel being 250 L, one thus obtains a range of 270 miles.
Concerning the sea keeping, the Next 220 is stable and secure and sails flat. The sailing sensation is pleasant and the turns well controlled. With its 150 hp, the boat lacks a little power, but this power corresponds nevertheless to the family program wanted by the shipyard.

Rates 2022
In terms of price, this one is a little above the competition since the package is 58,900 euros with a Honda 150 hp, but this is compensated by the "made in Italy" and careful details.
