How to become a volunteer for the sailing events at the 2024 Paris Olympics?

The sailing events of the 2024 Olympic Games will take place on the water of Marseille. You can now register on the platform allowing you to become a volunteer and access the Olympic infrastructures of the city of Marseille.

An international event

The Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games will begin on July 26, 2024 and end on September 8, 2024. To support this event, the organizer Pairs 2024 will recruit 45,000 Olympic and Paralympic Volunteers (OPV). This includes the Olympic sailing events that will take place in Marseille.

These VOPs, volunteers, will have the mission to accompany athletes and visitors throughout the sports events, including access to the Olympic water sports base of Roucas Blanc, which is currently under construction.

How to join the volunteer team?

The sailing events will take place in Marseille. The organizers, via the Marseille Bénévoles scheme, must select 524 eligible candidates to accompany the races.

The selection will be made in three stages:

  1. you must first register on the pre-selection platform before August 31 (link at the bottom of the article)
  2. the organization will select and contact the selected candidates in the last quarter of 2022
  3. you will definitely be able to register on the volunteer portal in January 2023

A collaborative commitment

Registration for the event requires both the volunteer and the organizer of the Games to respect a charter:

Volunteer commitments:

  • Collaborate in a selfless manner (volunteering),
  • Collaborate to the best of your ability,
  • To be involved in the planning, preparation, organization and running of the Games,
  • Commit to a minimum of 10 consecutive or non-consecutive days,
  • Accomplish the missions entrusted by Paris 2024.

The commitments of the organizer Paris 2024 :

  • Respect a policy of diversity, inclusion and development of social ties and federating,
  • Implement adequate security and safety measures,
  • Respect the availability according to the rhythm of life of the volunteer (indicated at the time of his commitment),
  • To ensure protection in terms of hygiene, health and safety (civil liability coverage),
  • Provide mandatory uniforms during the planning, preparation and staging of the Games (prohibited outside of volunteer duties),
  • Cover local public transportation costs, as well as meals during missions
