Departing on May 10 from Portugal to reach Pasaia âeuros at the French border, in the heart of the Spanish Basque Country âeuros l'Hermione is again impacted by the weather. While she was supposed to be the guest of honor at the maritime celebrations of the Spanish Basque port, from May 17 to 21, her presence is compromised.
The frigate first had to deal with the lack of wind, then strong north/north-easterly winds (force 5 to 6, gusting to 7) slowed the Hermione's ascent off the Portuguese coast, making it impossible to sail.
And as if that wasn't enough, the ship encountered a breakdown in one of the generators and the air conditioning system, limiting the power of the propulsion engines. Thus, due to these mechanical problems, the Captain of the ship Yann Cariou was forced to make an unscheduled stopover in Vigo (Spain) this Wednesday, May 16. An unfortunate setback that may disrupt the participation of the Hermione in the maritime festival.
The frigate should be back at sea by tonight after repairs in order to participate âeuros in part âeuros in the Pasaia Maritime Festivals.
