A great pomp and circumstance in Pasaia for the Hermione!

After the setbacks encountered by the Hermione on her return trip, the frigate finally arrived in Pasaia - Spanish Basque Country. Although she was supposed to be the headliner of the Spanish Maritime Holidays, she finally arrived too late to take part in them. But the welcome on the spot clearly shows that she was eagerly awaited! A beautiful arrival to discover in video!

The Hermione finally reached Pasaia at the end of the day on 23 May 2018. A relief for all the yachtsmen and Commander Cariou who have encountered difficult weather conditions and a technical problem with the engine since leaving Portimao. An incident that required a stopover in Vigo, for repairs but also to protect themselves from the strong winds. The verdict had been reached: the Hermione would not be able to take part in the Spanish Maritime Festivities organised from 17th to 21st May. But the decision was made to go there to prolong the spirit of the festivities from 23rd to 27th May.

So it was in an incredible place - a narrow passage between the cliffs that encircle the port - that the Hermione arrived in Spain welcomed by thousands of people on the shores and hundreds of boats on the water. The frigate greeted the crowds with fanfare and the sound of her 28 cannons.

Since then, visits have been organized on the deck of the ship, led by the gabiers, who are happy to share their daily life and make visitors dream.

Pasaia will also be an opportunity for Hermione to carry out a major crew changeover for the professional gabiers and sailors before heading for Bordeaux from 10th to 14th June and returning to Rochefort on 17th June.
